NSN leads in top mobile vendor ranks: report

Nokia Siemens Networks has topped a global survey seeking the top mobile infrastructure vendors, as rated by service providers.

The Infonetics Research survey analyzed the performance of five network vendors – Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia Siemens Networks – on eight criteria: technology, product roadmap, security, management, price-to-performance ratio, pricing, financial stability, and service and support.

Ericsson received the highest ratings for service and support, but Huawei has emerged as the challenger brand in most categories.

“Based on our recent mobile infrastructure service provider survey, market share reporting, and other carrier surveys, one message is clear: Huawei has really improved its global image. Our discussions with mobile operators indicate Huawei is no longer perceived as a seller of cheap products, but rather as having good technology and offering good value for the price,” Infonetics Research's principal analyst for mobile and FMC, Stéphane Téral said.

The survey revealed that Huawei overtook Alcatel-Lucent in many categories and is now gaining ground on Nokia Siemens Networks' market position in the mobile infrastructure space. Infonetics added that ZTE was also on the rise as well.
