NSN on verge of clinching Mot deal: reports

Motorola and Nokia Siemens Networks are close to agreement on the sale of Motorola’s networks business for $1.2 billion (€925 million), media reports say.

The two companies could announce the deal as early as today, Wall Street Journal reported

Motorola is aiming to dispose of the infrastructure group ahead of a plan to split the company’s handset and enterprise businesses early next year.

A Reuters report – which also said the deal could be announced today – said Motorola would retain its iDen trunk radio group.

NSN was in the running last year to buy a larger chunk of Motorola before the company group decided on the split, Reuters said.

NSN last year twice tried to buy assets from Nortel Networks’ fire sale but was trumped on Ericsson and Ciena Corp.
