Pyramid Research tipped Qatar's telecom services market to generate $2.8 billion (€2.5 billion) in service revenue by 2020, up from a forecast of $2.3 billion in 2015. This translates to an annual compound growth rate of 3.6 per cent. The growth will be driven by operators' consistent investment in next generation networks capable of delivering innovative new products and services to the market. Moreover, the mobile penetration rate in Qatar is set to increase to 191 per cent by year-end 2020, one of the highest rates in the world. Average per capita spending on telecommunications services now stands at over $1,000 per year. This makes Qatar--the fourth-largest economy in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)--one of the most developed telecom markets in the Middle East. Report
