Google's Android platform currently offers the most attractive opportunity for chipset vendors and is growing fast with over 20 chipset vendors currently in its ecosystem, according to a new report from research firm Strategy Analytics. The report, "Operating Systems Influence Chip Vendor's Success," assesses the importance of a multi-vendor and multi-platform strategy for the success of applications processor vendors. According to Strategy Analytics, application processor vendors with a broad portfolio which address multiple smartphone price tiers are currently the most successful and this will continue the report suggests.
