Visa Europe revealed that 3 billion contactless transactions were made across Europe on Visa cards and payment-enabled devices in the year to Apr.30. The credit card company said the rise in transactions over the 12 month period was significant, with the number increasing from 143 million in April 2015 to 360 million in April 2016. Average transaction values grew by 12 per cent from €12.29 ($13.90) last April to €13.83 today. The company said the growth has been driven by several factors including the increasing adoption of mobile NFC payments, such as with Apple Pay. Report
