Report: Ericsson leads on IMS/VoLTE, closely followed by Alcatel-Lucent, NSN

Ericsson is the market leader in IMS and VoLTE innovation and implementation, according to a new report from ABI Research. Ericsson's large patent portfolio, interoperability testing and market share put Ericsson ahead of its rivals, although Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia Siemens Networks have strong portfolios, and in some aspects are superior, according to the market research firm. "Ericsson has been the IMS leader from the starting gate, and this assessment affirms that position," said Joe Hoffman, principal analyst for mobile networks with ABI, "but their competitors are charging hard as the field makes the turn into the IMS/VoLTE backstretch."
