Report: Mobile accounts for more than half of digital ad growth in the UK

Just as digital advertising spending in the UK crossed the £5 billion (€5.8 billion) mark in 2012, mobile ad spending reached its own £500 million milestone, according to a new report on new digital ad spending conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers on behalf of the Internet Advertising Bureau UK (IAB). The reported noted that mobile advertising grew like-for-like by 148 per cent to £526.0 million in 2012, up from from £203.2 million in 2011. The increase in mobile ad spending was boosted by the jump in smartphone ownership to almost two-thirds (64 per cent) of the UK population in December 2012. Mobile now accounts for 9.7 per cent of all digital advertising spend compared to 1.1 per cent in 2009--a huge increase in share in just three years, the report added. Release
