Report: Samsung and Cisco/ip.access lead femtocell market

With the femtocell market still struggling to gain mass-market adoption, a new report from Infonetics Research claims that Samsung and Cisco/ip.access are vying for revenue leadership. The firm believes that Samsung has a slight edge given its higher-priced CDMA2000 femtocells and deal with Verizon Wireless, while the Cisco/ip.access 3G femtocell heads the 3G segment due to its selection by AT&T for its deployment in North America. Alcatel-Lucent has gained from its involvement with Vodafone across Europe, while the NEC/Ubiquisys solution has gained from winning deals with SFR, Network Norway and MegaFon and other operators.
