RootMetrics: In the UK, EE and Three top network tests as Vodafone and O2 lag behind

EE won five out of six categories outright in the RootMetrics Mobile Network Performance Review for the second half of 2014, and tied for first place with Three UK for network reliability testing. RootMetrics also noted that Three UK finished second in every other category it tested, including network speed, which the company said was particularly noteworthy because Three does not have the same breadth of 4G footprint that the other networks have. "Its consistency not only in urban areas but also in rural spaces helped it outperform O2 and Vodafone, both of which were much slower outside the larger metro areas," RootMetrics said. The report came a day before EE unveiled plans to invest a further £1.5 billion (€2 billion/$2.3 billion) between now and 2017, extending its 4G network to more than 99 per cent of the population and 90 per cent of the UK's geography.
