Rumour Mill: New Year reorg for Nokia management

In an effort to make the internal reporting structure easier to manage, Nokia is planning a major revamp of its distribution and corporate branch structures. These changes, which happen at a time when the entire company is rebalancing its strategic approach to services, are set for implementation next month.

The most significant upheaval will occur within the distribution organisation which will see it restructured into two divisions--Distribution East and Distribution West--instead of the current six divisions. Colin Giles, the present incumbent for Greater China Nokia, will be assigned to head Distribution East, while Timo Toikkanen, current senior VP for the Middle East and Africa, will become the head of Distribution West.

The corporate branches within Nokia will also undergo streamlining, being reshaped into three major divisions--devices, software & services and markets, instead of the current four branches covering mobile phones, multimedia, enterprise solutions and telecommunications.
