Strategy Analytics: Global 4G service revenue to exceed 3G in 2016

Strategy Analytics said 4G will overtake 3G technologies in global revenue generation this year, accounting for 49 per cent of revenue from a 25 per cent share of year-end subscriptions. 4G revenue is expected to increase by 35 per cent in 2016 to $426 billion (€381 billion). The research company predicts that 4G revenue growth will be offset by a 21 per cent decline in 2G service revenue and 19 per cent decline in 3G revenue in 2016. 4G LTE networks will support 1.9 billion connections (excluding M2M) by the end of the year, and will rise to 5.6 billion by the end of 2022. The company added that 5G connections will grow from 2 million in 2020 to 116 million in 2022. Report
