China's Huawei Technologies, Qualcomm and Telecom Italia have completed Europe's first MBMS (multimedia broadcast multicast service) field trial.
The trial demonstrated MBMS service deliveries of between 128kb/s and 256 kb/s under various indoor and outdoor channel conditions. The test was conducted by means of Huawei's MBMS solution with handsets powered by Qualcomm's MSM7201A chipset.
According to the companies, test results also indicated that MBMS technologies enable greater service reception and capacity than expected in certain conditions.
