Yahoo allies with iTunes, last.fm for revamped music site

A year after shutting down its online music store, Yahoo has returned to the business with a revamped model.

It has struck deals with online stores iTunes and Amazon, radio streaming services Pandora and Last.fm and video-sharing site YouTube.

Its new music web site  features a front-page portal and information on 500,000 individual artists.

In the future any musician or record label will be able to create and self-publish their own pages, Yahoo said

ComScore estimates that Yahoo Music is the second largest online music site, with 19.6 million unique visitors - trailing only AOL Music, which has 24.6 million visitors
