UScellular preps for holiday season, hires for 300 roles

Regional carrier UScellular is hiring for more than 300 positions, largely in retail ahead of the holiday season.

A company spokesperson said the roles are a combination of existing and newly created positions across the organzation. They span retail sales, corporate and operations support, engineering and network operations, information technology, and customer care.

Around 200 positions are in retail stores. The spokesperson noted that UScelluar is anticipating a busy holiday season “so we want to ensure we are prepared to serve our customers and deliver an outstanding experience.”

Asked about workforce shortages impacting retail, the spokesperson noted UScelluar is experiencing typical retail attrition and encouraging those with relevant experience to check out the open positions.

The fourth quarter for carriers follows the launch of new devices like Apple’s iPhone 13, which sport dual eSIMs and have seen aggressive promos from major carriers including AT&T.

UScelluar is offering versions of the iPhone 13, including Pro Max, at no cost to new consumer or small business customers that sign up for a new line on eligible postpaid service plans – it’s paid via monthly bill credits on a 30-month retail installment contract. UScellular isn’t requiring a trade-in device for the offers.

On the network side UScellular is looking to fill several engineering internship slots for next summer, as well as full-time engineer positions for project management, customer experience, enterprise incident and problem, optimization, and network performance.
