Verizon is upping the ante in its rivalry with cable companies, now offering its 5G Business Internet fixed wireless access (FWA) service to businesses in parts of 42 U.S. cities, up from the previous 24 markets.
Offered through Verizon Business, the telco’s offer includes a credit of up to $1,500 to offset early termination fees for customers who switch from another service provider. It’s also extending the previously announced 10-year price lock guarantee for new customers who are eligible.

Verizon’s 5G Business Internet runs on 5G “Ultra Wideband", which uses the millimeter wave bands that Verizon offers in select parts of select cities. The service includes professional installation – with no digging required.
But it’s not just today’s super-fast 5G mmWave speeds that Verizon is promising to deliver – it’s also about what’s available in the future.
“5G Business Internet customers get more than just a new kind of superfast Internet connectivity for today – they also get a 5G digital-transformation platform for tomorrow," said Sampath Sowmyanarayan, chief revenue officer of Verizon Business, in a statement. "Professional installation from Verizon means easy setup and quick application deployments from the start, and, as 5G technology evolves, customers will also have a scalable framework for leveraging technologies like edge computing and IoT.”
Along the same lines, Verizon Business last month launched On Site 5G, its first commercially available private 5G network solution for U.S. customers using mmWave spectrum. On Site 5G networks are custom-designed and managed by Verizon for large enterprises and the public sector.

New cities where Verizon now offers its 5G Business Internet service include parts of Seattle, New Orleans and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Verizon said additional cities will be announced on a rolling basis.
Verizon added that its 5G FWA for business complements a host of other solutions, including 5G mobility edge computing (MEC), BlueJeans video and IoT.
Earlier this week, Verizon announced it’s expanded FWA 5G Home Internet to parts of seven new cities, including Akron, Ohio; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Columbia, South Carolina; Durham, North Carolina; Fresno, California; Spokane, Washington; and St. Petersburg, Florida.
The service, which also uses mmWave spectrum, promises peak download speeds up to 1 Gbps and typical download speeds of 300 Mbps. It’s now available in 47 markets. Verizon also expanded its Home Internet service based on LTE.
