How Zyxel's WiFi 6 CPE Keeps Multi-Gig Customers Happy and Subscribed

Consumer demands for faster internet speeds and more bandwidth continue to rise, especially as they learn about Wi-Fi 6 (aka 802.11ax) and its ability to support true broadband wireless connectivity through their entire living spaces. This is why more service providers (SPs) are offering their internet customers download speeds in excess of 1G through those SPs' Customer Premises Equipment (CPE).

Unfortunately, SP promises to deliver multi-gigabit downloads (aka "multi-gig") at their customers' premises can fall short if their CPE can't support/distribute these speeds. Worse yet, their customers can readily detect such "download shortfalls" through online speed tests, readily accessible via a simple Google search. Once found, these shortfalls can result in consumers' losing trust in their SPs, leading to dissatisfaction with their subscribed services and motivating them to look elsewhere for true multi-gig service.

As a broadband gateway pioneer for more than 30 years, Zyxel has developed multi-gig CPE that doesn't have these download shortfalls. Zyxel's CPE has what it takes to keep multi-gig customers happy and subscribed, which translates into less churn and more assured revenues for SPs.

Why things go wrong

Although today's SPs can bring multi-gig speeds to customer homes, these speeds can be downgraded to 1G due to inadequacies in the customers' CPE. In other words, the CPE cannot support more than 1G service – no matter how much data speed is available on the SP's network – because they are equipped with 1G ports. They literally don't have the bandwidth for multi-gig service.

This download shortfall can and will be detected any time the customer runs a speed test, no matter what an SP's technician may say to rationalize the result.

Making things go right

To avoid this problem entirely, Zyxel's EX5512 CPE uses a 'non-blocking design' with a 2.5G WAN and LAN port to truly and measurably deliver multi-gig speeds to users. "Non-blocking" refers to the fact that the CPE has sufficient internal bandwidth to support all of its ports simultaneously at full network speeds without compromise. The result: The customer gets the multi-gig service they paid for.

Better yet, the Zyxel EX5512's non-blocking, multi-gig performance can be proven to the customer using a simple speed test. Such proof keeps customers happy and subscribed while supporting the necessary bandwidth to deliver true Whole Home Wi-Fi.

Speaking of wall-to-wall coverage, using a device such as the Zyxel Whole Home Wi-Fi WX3310 extender ensures that every corner of the customer's home has access to Wi-Fi service 24/7. Again, this kind of performance keeps internet customers happy and subscribed. And why not? They're getting what they paid for!

Worth noting: As home bandwidth speeds creep upwards to 10G (and beyond), Zyxel will build the CPE that SPs need to deliver these speeds to customers reliably and consistently, via Ethernet and Wi-Fi.

Offering Options to SPs

Helping SPs retain their customers is just one of Zyxel's strengths. Another is choice: When SPs select Zyxel equipment, they can choose to implement the CPE using either Zyxel's MPro MESH Intelligent Wi-Fi platform with TR-069/TR-181 remote management protocols or Plume's OpenSync platforms to remotely manage these systems.

Zyxel takes this level of choice to the next level by providing SPs with the MPro MESH mobile app for use by their customers. This app is available in Apple iOS and Android versions. It interacts with Zyxel MPro Mesh compatible Wi-Fi 6 gateways and extenders to let customers monitor their whole home networks. The MPro Mesh app supports simple network management features such as providing complete views of home networks, home device lists, Wi-Fi setup, one-click guest Wi-Fi setup, and parental control for internet access.

The right multi-gig choices

In a world where trust is in short supply, it only makes sense for SPs to purchase, deploy, and support CPE that delivers excuse-free multi-gig performance. Zyxel's EX5512 is the kind of CPE that SPs need to make this happen now, backed by platform and remote management options that optimize service while keeping human resources costs under control.
