Dell'Oro: WLAN revenues increased 24% in Q2

New figures from Dell'Oro Group indicate that overall wireless LAN revenues jumped 24 percent in the second quarter thanks to exceptionally strong enterprise WLAN growth of 40 percent.

However, all three WLAN segments--service provider mesh, enterprise and small office, home office (SOHO)--jumped by double-digit percentages year-over-year in the second quarter. In all, the enterprise WLAN market posted its largest sequential growth in shipments since 2004.

"Large wins drove exceptional sequential quarters for some vendors, including Motorola Solutions, up over 100 percent and Alcatel-Lucent, up over 80 percent," stated Chris DePuy, said wireless LAN research analyst Dell'Oro Group, in a statement. "This is an indication of how important WLAN is becoming to enterprises and service providers--that a handful of wins can register in the tens of millions of dollars for any single customer in any given quarter."
