App Annie, Distimo enhance app store performance measurement

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) and to a lesser extent Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) will occasionally disclose statistics on how many applications are in their respective app stores and how well compensated developers are. However, two of the top companies focused on mobile analytics recently introduced, on the exact same day, services that could change the way app store performance is monitored over the next five years. App Annie said the latest version of its App Annie Analytics tool would offer hourly app store rankings and data sharing as well as an improved Web dashboard and daily e-mail reports that allow CSV exports. App Annie will also allow apps to gain access to the company's analytics API. Rival Distimo also introduced App Trends, which will provide daily download and revenue trends for the last two weeks for any app worldwide. Distimo said daily rankings for every app worldwide in any category where it is ranked in an app store will also be available, including searches by individual countries.
