BenQ intros 6 new multimedia handsets

Looking to propel Siemens' handset business out of the doldrums, BenQ, which purchased the struggling handset vendor last summer, introduced six new feature-packed multimedia phones. It also announced a deal to sell handsets preinstalled with Google software for information searches. The P51, expected to become available in the third quarter, includes WiFi and comes pre-loaded with Skype so that users can make voice-over-IP calls over WiFi networks. The Windows Mobile software includes Powerpoint and allows users to receive push email from their corporate email accounts. Other new handsets include music players, Bluetooth and exchangeable covers.
