Cingular, MySpace make ringtones

Cingular and MySpace introduced the Mobile Music Studio, an online portal that will enable any of MySpace's bands to issue their original music for conversion into a ringtone. While it's MVNO Helio that has an exclusive deal with MySpace to put the site on its phones, other operators are trying to find ways to tap into the popularity of the site in varying ways. Cingular says that even though MySpace won't be on the carrier's deck and the ringtones won't be promoted on its MEdia Mall download center, viral marketing will do all the work.
