Financial services provider Citi announced it will trial a new mobile peer-to-peer payment platform developed in conjunction with mobile payments service provider Obopay. The trial, initially offered to select new and existing Citi customers in the Chicago and Boston areas, will enable consumers to instantly send and receive money via mobile handset. Trial participants may also add money to their mobile accounts by means of credit cards or electronic bank transfers, and manage their accounts via web browser or text messaging. In addition, participants may check balances, view payment histories and access funds with a prepaid debit card provided with the service.
