Ericsson buys metro networks firm for $51M

Ericsson has agreed to buy Norwegian multiservice provisioning platform equipment vendor Axxessit for $51.3 million in cash. Axxessit develops, produces and markets devices and platforms for next-generation access and metro networks. The company counts 175 employees and scored sales of $24 million and a pre-tax profit of $9 million last year. Ericsson will incorporate Axxessit's network technology into its menu of network equipment and services.
