FCC OKs Apple's iPhone

The FCC has approved the iPhone handset for use on spectrum in the U.S. Every handset needs to be approved by the FCC to ensure the device isn't emitting harmful radiation or has other harmful effects to users. Most handsets are approved before they launch, but Apple CEO Steve Jobs decided to wait until after the announcement to maintain the company's famous air of secrecy surrounding product launches. Usually the FCC publishes all the testing documents onto its website, however, the agency has agreed not to make the full report available at Jobs' request, probably for fear of copycats. The published documents refer to the iPhone as "A1203," and the device seemed to have passed the tests with no issues. Jobs recently told the press that the handset should be in stores come late June.
