Metric: SMS revenues to hit $67B

According to a report from Portio Research, worldwide SMS revenues are expected to hit $67 billion by 2012, driven by 3.7 trillion messages. The report also suggests that mobile instant messaging, especially in markets such as North America, will supplant SMS as the mainstream messaging service, because of the rise of the mobile Internet and consumer friendly smartphones.
