According to a recent study from ABI Research, growth of WCDMA hardware and services are growing at a slower than expected pace. There are two reasons for the slowed growth. First, available applications are uncompelling and don't live up to the hype. The second factor slowing the growth of WCDMA is EDGE, which many GSM carriers are using in the short and middle term. By using EDGE, many GSM carriers are delaying long-awaited WCDMA upgrades and slowing the market.
