Metric: Wireless IM to drive messaging growth

According to the latest figures from In-Stat, wireless instant messaging will be the biggest driver of mobile messaging growth. Mobile IM is expected to help mobile messaging revenues grow six-fold between 2007 and 2009. Much of this growth will be driven by corporate users. The report also predicts that MMS (Multimedia Message Service) will grow almost 50 percent through 2009. In-Stat added that EMS (Enhanced Messaging Service) has almost "virtually disappeared" as a mainstream mobile messaging technology.
