Rumor Mill: Dell to outfit laptops with HSDPA chips

According to reports circling the Internet, in mid-February at the 3GSM event Dell will unveil HSDPA-enabled laptops. The addition of HSDPA chipsets to the company's laptop offerings would enable users to connect directly to cellular networks as opposed to only WiFi networks. According to ComputerWire, a spokesman for Dell said to "wait for Barcelona" for announcements about support for cellular chipsets. The 3GSM World Congress Event is taking place in Barcelona, Spain this year. Verizon and Cingular already made similar announcements in 2005 with Verizon's EV-DO chipsets for laptops launch and Cingular's EDGE chipset launch.
