Samsung now number two: 37.4M phones shipped

Samsung is now the number two handset maker by units shipped: 37.4 million. Total revenue for the company came in at $16 billion in its Q2, a 4 percent increase from this quarter last year. Handset-related revenue accounted for $4.6 billion of that revenue, a 5 percent increase over the prior year's quarter and down 1 percent from last quarter. Net income overall was $1.5 billion, down 5 percent from Q2 last year. Average selling prices declined 5 percent to $148.
