Sprint today said it will complete its acquisition of Nextel Communications on Friday. The newly merged company will begin trading as a single stock on Monday next week. The FCC and Justice Department signed off on the merger last week, clearing the way for the two carriers to join. Shareholders of both companies have already approved the deal. The newly combined carrier will trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "S." Sprint Nextel will move its corporate headquarters to Reston, Virginia, while maintaining its operational headquarters on Sprint's original campus in the suburbs of Kansas City.
