Study: 2006 will be rough for western Europe wireless market

According to a recent study from Strategy Analytics, the €140 billion western Europe wireless market will face a rocky 2006 because of worsening subscriber churn and revenue outlook. The report reviews last year's competitive pressure in the region and its subsequent toll on revenue and then explains why 2006 will follow a similar path. 3G growth will standout as the lone "bright spot." After record growth in 2003 and 2004, last year saw single-digit growth for revenue in the region. These will grow by less than 4 percent in 2006.
