Telecom Italia, COOP launch MVNO

Telecom Italia and retailer COOP have teamed up to launch an MVNO in Italy, that country's first, according to the report from AFX. The carrier's deal with COOP is exclusive, meaning it cannot enter into another MVNO deal with another retail company. The service will be marketed as COOPVoce and the company will set its own prices and commercial policy. The initial beta launch kicks off in April with a full launch during the summer. The two companies are also planning to enter into reseller agreements for broadband and other fixed services. COOP is Italy's largest retailer with a 17.1 percent market share, 6.5 million clients, more than 1,300 outlets and 53,000 employees.
