Verizon's iPlan: Stores will be open until 9 PM

Verizon Wireless announced that their stores and kiosks in most markets will be open until 9 PM tomorrow, June 29, the day the iPhone goes on sale (starting at 6 PM). Verizon plans on keeping their stores open to give "customers plenty of time to test drive the leading wireless company with the most reliable voice and data network." Verizon Wireless store customers who purchase one of the carrier's music phones will walk home with "a free Music Essentials Kit that gives them all the tools they need to take their music with them wherever they go... [the] Kit includes a stereo headset, a cable for music transfer from a PC to the [phone] and a 2GB memory card that can store up to 1,000 songs."

Apple announced that their stores will be open until midnight tomorrow. New iPhone users won't be able to test their phones out until they get home and sync it with their computer.
